Tamil Nadu Minister Durai Murugan has hit back at veteran actor Rajinikanth following the latter's comments on senior leaders of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK). The minister criticized aging actors for limiting opportunities for younger talent, claiming they continue to act 'even after losing teeth.'

This reaction came days after Rajinikanth praised Chief Minister MK Stalin for skillfully managing senior DMK leaders. At a book launch event on August 24, Rajinikanth remarked on the complexity of handling seasoned leaders within the party, calling them extraordinary 'old students.'

Responding sharply on August 25, Durai Murugan noted that similarly, young actors miss opportunities because senior actors extend their careers long past their prime. Amid the controversy, DMK Youth and Sports Development Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin asserted that youth are eager to join their party if given the opportunity to be guided and supported.
