PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti announced on Sunday that her party is prepared to back a Congress-National Conference (NC) alliance in the forthcoming Jammu and Kashmir elections, if they agree to adopt the PDP's agenda. Mufti emphasized that the BJP's removal of Article 370 has complicated issues in the region.
The former Chief Minister highlighted that her party's aims go beyond statehood or seat sharing, stating, "We are fighting for dignity, for resolution." She mentioned that alliances and seat sharing are secondary considerations, while solving Kashmir's problems remains paramount.
The PDP's election manifesto promises to restore Articles 370 and 35A, promote diplomatic talks between India and Pakistan, and ensure the dignified return of Kashmiri Pandits. The elections, set to be held in three phases starting September 18, will be the first since the abrogation of Article 370.
