On Sunday, individuals connected with the TV industry participated in a candle march to protest the rape and murder incident at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. The brutal crime committed against a trainee doctor triggered nationwide outrage.
Earlier in the day, the Indian Secular Front (ISF) organized a protest in South 24 Parganas' Bhangar region, pressing for justice. Protesters sought the punishment of those responsible and the resignation of West Bengal's Health Minister.
In a related move, distinguished teacher Parimal Dey from Alipurduar announced his decision to return his Banga Ratna award in protest over the state government's handling of the case. This comes after CBI officials conducted a polygraph test on the accused Sanjay Roy.
