The District Election Authority in Doda organized a detailed training session for presiding officers at the DC Office Conference Hall. District Election Officer (DEO) Harvinder Singh highlighted the vital role of these officers in ensuring the integrity of the electoral process by thoroughly briefing them on their responsibilities.

Emphasizing free, fair, and transparent elections, DEO Singh stated, 'The role of presiding officers is crucial for maintaining the electoral process's integrity. Our objective is to ensure every officer is prepared and understands their duties to facilitate a smooth election.'

Key officials, including the Nodal Officer for Model Code of Conduct, Deputy District Election Officer, Additional Deputy Commissioner, and Chief Planning Officer, were in attendance. The master trainer provided insights into election procedures covering various topics such as election protocols, voter assistance, handling election materials, and maintaining law and order at polling stations.

Polling in Jammu and Kashmir is set to occur in three phases on September 18, 25, and October 1, with vote counting scheduled for October 4. In the 2014 Assembly elections, the PDP secured 28 seats, the Bharatiya Janata Party won 25 seats, the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference got 15 seats, and Congress took 12 seats.

These are the first assembly elections in Kashmir post the abrogation of Article 370. (ANI)
