Former Prime Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) Rajya Sabha member H D Devegowda met Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar in the national capital on Saturday. The meeting was characterized as a 'courtesy call' by Devegowda on the social media platform X.
Meanwhile, Vice President Dhankhar, addressing an International Dharma Dhamma Conference, criticized the imposition of the emergency in 1975. He described it as a 'sacrilege of Dharma' and accused then-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi of acting dictatorially to retain power.
Dhankhar highlighted the importance of observing Constitution Day on November 26 and Samvidhan Hatya Divas on June 25, marking them as essential reminders of the importance of upholding constitutional values and preventing future transgressions.
