Maharashtra Chief Minister, Eknath Shinde, announced on Saturday that the state government is actively providing necessary support to victims of a tragic road accident in Nepal, which claimed the lives of 27 Indian nationals. Shinde mentioned that Home Minister Amit Shah has appointed a nodal officer to assist those affected.

Shinde stated, "I have talked to the Union Defence Ministry regarding the unfortunate incident in Kathmandu. The Home Minister has appointed a nodal officer to help those affected, and they will be transported by the Air Force from Gorakhpur to Nashik. Treatment is being provided to the injured. Both state and central governments are actively involved in providing the necessary aid."

Meanwhile, Union Minister Raksha Khadse arrived in Nepal to oversee the return of bus mishap victims from the Tanahun district. The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu reported that 27 Indian nationals died when their bus fell into the Marsyangdi River. Sixteen injured passengers were airlifted to Kathmandu for further treatment at TU Teaching Hospital.

MEA spokesperson Jaiswal confirmed that the Embassy is extending all possible help. In a social media post, Khadse mentioned her visit to Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital to meet the injured. She was accompanied by Nepal Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak and discussed the rescue operation with Indian Ambassador Naveen Srivastava.

The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu has established emergency helpline numbers for affected families and is in constant communication with local authorities. Arrangements are being made for the early transportation of mortal remains to India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over the tragic incident and extended condolences to the grieving families. He assured that the Indian Embassy is providing all possible assistance. The bodies will be transported by road to Bhairahawa and then flown to Nashik by an Indian Air Force aircraft.
