In the wake of torrential rainfall, flood victims were moved to government relief camps in Agartala on Saturday to ensure they get the necessary facilities and remain safe from the disaster. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) executed a rescue operation on Friday evening, evacuating 125 individuals from various flood-affected areas in Tripura.

Speaking to ANI, Aruna Sarkar, a flood victim staying at one of the camps, said, "My father's house is here at Jayanagar. I arrived at this relief camp in the morning, but my family has been here for a few days and reported that everything is fine. Facilities for food, water, and infant care are well arranged. The government has done commendable work." Another resident, Ananta Vaishnav, highlighted the services provided to ensure children's comfort, including tiffin services. Vaishnav expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Manik Saha for the arrangements.

Rupa Sarkar Kar, one of the cooks at the facility, confirmed the timely provision of meals, stating, "Now I am cooking Dal, Potato fry & pumpkin Varta. There is abundant food for all, no scarcity." Priya Chakraborty, another camp resident, recounted the severe damage to her home due to flooding, losing essential items like quilts and mattresses. She appreciated the government's provisions at the camp but hoped for assistance in recovering lost properties.

A flood victim, Apuva Das, shared that he had never encountered such a severe flood in his 37 years and that his house was destroyed, prompting him to stay at the refugee camp.

According to reports, a total of 558 relief camps have been established by the district administration since August 19. (ANI)
