Uttar Pradesh Minister Swatantra Dev Singh on Friday visited Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, to offer prayers and seek blessings from Baba Mahakal (Lord Shiva). Minister Singh took part in the revered Bhasma Aarti and was visibly absorbed in devotion while seated in the temple's Nandi hall. Notably, renowned singer and rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh's sister, Sneha Singh, also attended the prayers and the Bhasma Aarti.

The Bhasma Aarti, a ritual involving offerings with ashes, is a prominent ceremony performed in the 'Brahma Muhurta' from around 3:30 to 5:30 AM. Devotees believe that participating in this Aarti fulfills their wishes. During the dhoop-deep Aarti, Minister Singh approached Baba Mahakal's inner sanctum (GarbhaGriha) and offered water to the deity through a priest, praying for continued blessings for all.

Following tradition, temple priests opened Baba Mahakal's doors during Brahma Muhurta and conducted a Panchamrit holy bath using milk, curd, ghee, sugar, and honey. The deity was then adorned, and the Bhasma Aarti along with dhoop-deep Aarti were performed to the sounds of drums and conch shells. After the worship, Minister Swatantra Dev Singh told ANI, "I prayed for Baba Mahakal to keep blessing our country, PM Modi, Madhya Pradesh CM, and UP CM, so they can continue their service effectively."
