IndiGo Faces GST Penalties, Vows to Contest Orders

IndiGo, India's leading airline, announced on Wednesday that it will contest two orders imposing penalties totaling Rs 3,50,299 in relation to input tax credit.
In Odisha, a penalty of Rs 1,77,046 has been levied on the company concerning Goods and Services Tax (GST). The appellate authority rejected the company's appeal and upheld the demand due to input tax credit discrepancies for FY 2017-18, according to InterGlobe Aviation, IndiGo's parent company, in a regulatory filing.
In a separate case in Kerala, the company is facing a penalty of Rs 1,73,253. The tax officer denied the input tax credit availed by the company and raised the demand. IndiGo is also contesting this order before the appropriate appellate authority.
