Sembcorp Industries Ltd will establish a green ammonia production plant in Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu, with the goal of exporting the zero-emission fuel to Japan, the company announced on Wednesday.
Tamil Nadu's Chief Minister M K Stalin officiated the foundation stone-laying ceremony of the plant. Green ammonia, primarily used in fertilizers, is produced through a 100% renewable and carbon-free process.
This initiative is part of a broader collaboration between India, Singapore, and Japan, aimed at integrating green ammonia into Japan's energy mix and advancing global sustainable energy objectives.
