Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Wednesday congratulated BJP leaders Mission Ranjan Das and Rameswar Teli after they filed their nominations for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections in Assam. The nominations were submitted in the presence of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and other senior BJP leaders.

"Today's nominations for two Rajya Sabha seats reflect our party's strengths and the people's continued support," Sonowal told reporters. "We believe both leaders will work sincerely for Assam's development." Sarma thanked the Central leadership for selecting Teli and Das as candidates, praising their roles within the party.

Rameswar Teli, a senior leader from the tea community, is expected to win uncontested. Mission Ranjan Das, known for his leadership in the BJP Legislature Party, brings aspirations from the Barak Valley, which has lacked representation in Rajya Sabha since 2009. The by-elections, prompted by vacancies following Lok Sabha elections, aim to bolster BJP's majority in the Rajya Sabha.
