ISRO Chairman Dr. S Somnath stated on Tuesday that societal investments in the space program have yielded significant benefits, including employment opportunities for lakhs of people. He emphasized the often-overlooked impact of these investments. 'We commissioned a study with consultants to measure the societal impact of our space program investments,' said Somnath during an event focused on 'Creating a Space Ecosystem: A New Era-Igniting Young Minds for Space Exploration.' Somnath noted the comprehensive support systems created for sectors such as fishing, agriculture, and disaster management, underscoring public enthusiasm when Chandrayaan made its lunar landing.

Somnath highlighted the job creation and cross-sector support facilitated by ISRO's advancements. On Friday, the organization successfully launched the EOS-08 Earth Observation Satellite aboard the SSLV-D3 from Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota.

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar congratulated ISRO for the EOS-08 launch, calling it a gateway to low-cost missions and greater international collaboration. The EOS-08 mission aims to design a microsatellite, integrating new technologies for future satellites, encapsulated in ISRO's message of innovation. As India prepares to celebrate National Space Day on August 23, marking Chandrayaan-3's successful lunar landing, ISRO's achievements continue to inspire the younger generation in space science and technology.
