Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday filed a writ petition in the High Court, challenging an order by Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot sanctioning his prosecution in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) land scam. Justice Hemant Chandangoudar's single-judge bench will hear the plea at 2:30 pm today.

In a related development, Congress leader Ramesh Babu wrote to President Droupadi Murmu, urging her immediate intervention. He described the Governor's decision as a 'grave injustice' and a 'politically motivated act' that undermines democratic and constitutional values. Babu claimed that the prosecution sanction was a calculated move to destabilize the elected Karnataka government.

Babu accused the BJP and its allies, including JD(S), of misusing the Governor's office for political vendetta. He appealed to President Murmu to uphold democratic norms and prevent further erosion of constitutional values. Meanwhile, Karnataka Congress workers protested the Governor's decision. The MUDA scam involves allegations of document forgery for compensation claims, following a complaint by social activist Snehamayi Krishna against Siddaramaiah and nine others.
