Vice-President of India Jagdeep Dhankhar underscored the profound significance of organ donation on Sunday, describing it as a spiritual activity and the highest moral exemplification of human nature, according to an official press release. Dhankhar highlighted that organ donation transcends physical generosity, embodying virtues of compassion and selflessness.

Speaking at an event organized by Jain Social Groups (JSG) Central Sansthan, Jaipur, and Dadhichi Deh Dan Samiti, Delhi, to honor families of body donors in Jaipur, the Vice-President urged citizens to make organ donation a mission aligning with the noble tradition of serving humanity. Referencing World Organ Donation Day's theme, "Be the Reason for Someone's Smile Today," he encouraged personal and family commitments to this noble cause.

Quoting ancient wisdom, Dhankhar emphasized the use of the human body for achieving greater good and societal welfare. He pointed out that supporting individuals lacking vital organs transforms them from societal liabilities to assets, thereby underscoring the importance of organ donation.

Addressing commercialization concerns in organ donation, Dhankhar stressed that organs should be donated for societal benefit, not fiscal gain. He lauded the selfless service of health workers during the COVID pandemic, expressing that the noble nature of organ donation must not be undermined by commercial exploitation.

Highlighting India's cultural heritage of selfless service, Dhankhar called for reflection on wisdom from scriptures and Vedas. He urged political unity in national interest and vigilance to prevent threats to democracy, such as during the Emergency. Additionally, he appealed to corporates to support local products and limit unnecessary imports.
