Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday exuded confidence in securing victory in the forthcoming by-elections for 10 vacant seats in the Uttar Pradesh legislative assembly. Yadav said, 'The public will make PDA (Pichhde, Dalit, and Alpsankhyak) win in the by-elections. The party will achieve a historic victory, marking a significant success for the INDIA alliance and PDA.'

Earlier, Samajwadi Party MP Dimple Yadav expressed similar sentiments, asserting her expectation of performing well in the by-elections. 'Karhal comes under the Mainpuri Lok Sabha constituency and I am in constant touch with the people here. In the by-election, the Samajwadi Party will win Karhal by a very good margin. Along with this, Samajwadi Party will bring very good results in the 9 places where by-elections are being held,' she stated.

In the 2024 general elections, the Samajwadi Party, in alliance with Congress, secured 43 out of 80 seats in Uttar Pradesh. SP alone won 37 seats, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led NDA saw a significant drop, securing only 36 seats compared to 64 in 2019. The by-elections will witness a three-way contest between the INDIA bloc, NDA, and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).

Reacting to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's remarks on the 'communal civil code' during his Independence Day address, SP MP Akhilesh Yadav emphasized the importance of caste equality and socio-economic prosperity. 'The biggest issues for the nation are that inflation should decrease, youth should get employment, and the dreams of Samajwadi people should be fulfilled. All people should participate to make society prosperous, ensuring all castes get their rights and dignity. This is the need of the hour,' he asserted.
