Former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia offered prayers at Kalkaji Temple on Saturday after his release on bail by the Supreme Court over the Delhi Excise Policy case. 'After coming out of jail, I arrived to offer prayers at Kalkaji temple. I thanked God for listening to the prayers of the people of Delhi,' Sisodia said.
Sisodia expressed optimism about the release of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who was also arrested in connection with the Delhi excise policy case. 'I am hopeful that Arvind Kejriwal will also soon walk out of jail,' he stated.
Sisodia was released from Tihar Jail on August 9 after the Supreme Court granted him bail in relation to the case. The order was delivered by a bench comprising Justices BR Gavai and KV Viswanathan, who imposed conditions including passport surrender and prohibition against influencing witnesses.
In February 2023, Sisodia was arrested by the CBI over alleged irregularities in the framing and implementation of Delhi's now-scrapped new excise policy. Amid allegations of foul play by the opposition, the policy was withdrawn. The CBI contends that Sisodia played a pivotal role in both the conspiracy and implementation stages of the policy. Bail was granted by the apex court on August 9.
On Friday, Sisodia met Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to discuss party matters in his first meeting after being released. Sisodia also extended birthday greetings to CM Arvind Kejriwal, highlighting his efforts against what he termed as dictatorship. 'Wishing the Chief Minister of Delhi, my dearest friend and political guru, @ArvindKejriwal ji a very happy birthday... We are proud to be soldiers of a patriot and revolutionary leader who chose to go to jail rather than kneel before a dictator. Today, the country's democracy is imprisoned in the form of Arvind Kejriwal,' Sisodia posted on X.
