In a sharp critique, BJP MP Sangeeta Yadav blasted West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday, questioning the logic of a leader in power spearheading a protest rally. Yadav's comments came in light of Banerjee's rally about the RG Kar rape-murder case, demanding Banerjee take moral responsibility and resign.

This incident involves a woman, and Banerjee as a female leader should take moral accountability and ensure a comprehensive investigation to punish the perpetrators, setting an example nationwide, Yadav stated. Echoing the sentiment, BJP Mahila Morcha National Vice President Pooja Kapil Mishra labeled Banerjee a 'drama queen' for what she termed as insensitive governance amid ongoing incidents of violence against women in the state.

On the same day, Banerjee addressed a rally urging the CBI to hasten its probe into the matter, while accusing CPIM and BJP of vandalism at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital protest site. Odisha Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling also criticized the West Bengal government, highlighting the failure to ensure security for doctors, as nationwide protests by medical professionals continue following the horrific August 9 incident.
