The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has sanctioned the development of new civil enclaves at Bagdogra and Bihta airports, according to the Ministry of Civil Aviation. The move, with a collective investment of Rs 2,962 crore, aims to enhance regional connectivity and manage increasing air travel demands.

With an investment of Rs 1549.00 crore, the new civil enclave at Bagdogra will include a 70,390 square meter terminal designed to handle 3,000 Peak Hour Passengers (PHP) and 10 million passengers annually. The site will feature an apron with 10 parking bays for A-321-type aircraft, link taxiways, and a multi-level car parking facility. The terminal will emphasize sustainability by integrating renewable energy sources and maximizing natural light.

Similarly, the new civil enclave at Bihta Airport will see an investment of Rs 1,413.00 crore, addressing congestion at Patna Airport. The 66,000 square meter terminal will initially accommodate 3,000 PHP and 5 million passengers annually, with potential expansion to a capacity of 10 million. This development includes an apron with 10 parking bays for various aircraft types and link taxiways. The Union Minister underscored the commitment to high standards and timely delivery, aimed at supporting regional economic development and future needs.
