With just days left until Maharashtra officially launches the 'Ladki Bahin Yojana,' the Women and Child Development Department announced that Rs 3,000 has been successfully transferred to select beneficiaries on a trial basis, covering the first two months.

Under the 'Mukhya Mantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana,' underprivileged women aged 21 to 65 will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 1,500 from the state government. Announced in the June-end budget, the scheme will cost Rs 46,000 crore annually and is being launched ahead of October's assembly polls.

'We have delivered on our promise to transfer Rs 3,000 to women beneficiaries whose bank account details have been verified,' Chief Minister Eknath Shinde told reporters, advising women to ignore critics who deem the scheme financially unviable.
