Maruti Suzuki India has been issued a show cause notice demanding over Rs 3.8 crore in differential duty by the customs authority.
The notice from the Office of the Commissioner of Customs (Import), Air Cargo Complex, Mumbai, was disclosed in a regulatory filing.
The company must justify its claim for customs duty exemption on the import of specific goods and pay Rs 3,81,37,748 along with interest and penalty. The company clarified that this notice does not significantly affect its financial or operational activities.
Meanwhile, Maruti Suzuki's shares were up 0.34% at Rs 12,206.85 on the BSE.
