A petition has been filed in the Delhi High Court seeking the cancellation of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) election and the appointment of a one-man committee by the court.

The petition demands that current WFI President Sanjay Singh be barred from conducting further selections, citing unauthorized and illegal decisions under his leadership.

Senior advocate Rahul Mehra, representing wrestlers Bajrang Punia, Vinesh Phogat, and Sakshee Malikkh, filed the petition in the lead-up to the Olympic Games, questioning the influence of suspended Federation president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.

Mehra stated that decisions made by a suspended president should be deemed invalid and emphasized the necessity for independent oversight. The court's decision, reserved on May 24, is now being announced.
