A relentless deluge of rainfall has paralyzed life in northern and north-western parts of the country, leading to widespread disruptions. Key areas have faced flooded roads, suspended transportation, and significant power outages. Authorities are increasingly worried about potential landslides and flash floods, urging residents to brace for further chaos.
Jaipur in Rajasthan is among the worst affected, inundated by relentless rains that led to severe waterlogging. Streets were swamped since Sunday, causing traffic disruptions on Ajmer Road and Sikar Road. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Jaipur recorded 79 mm of rain, the highest in the state, with Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma inspecting the hardest-hit areas.
New Delhi also faced heavy rain, leading to a 'yellow' weather warning. Commuters navigated waterlogged streets, equipped with raincoats and umbrellas. In Haryana, heavy rainfall caused severe waterlogging, particularly affecting Gurugram and Ambala. Himachal Pradesh saw rescue operations in Nahan due to rising river levels. The IMD forecasts continued rain in several states, advising residents to stay vigilant.
