Narendra Singh Negi Honored with Uttarakhand Lok Samman

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami honored renowned folk singer Narendra Singh Negi with the Uttarakhand Lok Samman on Monday during the 50-year celebrations of Geet Yatra. The event, held at the Sanskriti Auditorium on Haridwar Road, also saw the release of the book 'Kal Phir Jab Subah Hogi' by Lalit Mohan Rayal, which chronicles Negi's musical journey.

Narendra Singh Negi, often hailed as the 'voice of the mountain', received a cheque of Rs 2.51 lakh and a citation from the Chief Minister. Dhami praised Negi's songs for bringing the region's challenges and beauty to the forefront, celebrating his impact on preserving and promoting Uttarakhand's folk culture.

Negi expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister and lauded Lalit Mohan Rayal for his efforts in documenting 101 of his songs in a 400-page book. The event featured a stirring performance of his song 'Thandho Re Thando', emphasizing the importance of local culture and heritage. The Chief Minister also congratulated Negi on his birthday and wished him a long and prosperous life.
