In preparation for Independence Day celebrations, the Delhi Police has introduced advanced CCTV analytics to boost security around the Red Fort. The move aims to minimize human error and ensure swift identification of any suspicious activities, according to officials.
Manoj Kumar Meena, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) North Delhi, confirmed the installation of numerous CCTV cameras in and around the Red Fort. He emphasized that the new analytics system will reduce errors in security arrangements and will be closely monitored to handle any incidents effectively.
Officials detailed that the system is designed to identify various suspicious behaviors, such as detecting unattended bags and tracking movements of individuals for unusual patterns. The Red Fort area is divided into several surveillance zones, each monitored around the clock by security personnel from a makeshift control room within the premises.
More than 10,000 security personnel, including Delhi police and paramilitary units, are set to be deployed in strategic locations around central and north Delhi. A team of central intelligence and security agencies recently conducted a security review meeting at the Red Fort, emphasizing the need for heightened vigilance, especially following an attack on former US President Donald Trump during a public meeting.
