Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy reported on Sunday that Russian forces had ignited a fire at the occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant in southern Ukraine. The blaze is visible from territories controlled by Kyiv, he stated.
In a message posted on the Telegram app, Zelenskiy reassured the public that radiation levels remain within normal limits despite the fire.
A local official in Nikopol, a city overlooking the plant, indicated that there is unconfirmed information suggesting that Russian troops set fire to a significant number of automobile tires in the plant's cooling towers. He urged local residents to remain calm.
