In a solemn ceremony on Saturday, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha handed over an appointment letter to Renu Verma, the widow of Vijay Kumar, the bus driver who lost his life in the Reasi terror attack. The appointment took place at Raj Bhawan, honoring Vijay Kumar, a resident of Reasi, who died while transporting pilgrims on June 9.

Lt. Governor Sinha assured the bereaved family that the J&K administration will extend all possible assistance and support. The event saw the presence of Vishesh Paul Mahajan, Deputy Commissioner of Reasi, and family members of the deceased driver.

The horrific incident occurred when terrorists opened fire on the bus en route from the Shivkhori shrine to Katra, causing the vehicle to swerve into a gorge. The attack claimed at least nine lives and injured over 30 people. According to the Jammu and Kashmir police, the assault involved at least two terrorists.

Condemning the attack, Lt. Governor Sinha pledged to bring the perpetrators to justice. "I strongly condemn the cowardly terror attack on a bus in Reasi. My condolences go out to the families of the martyred civilians. Our security forces and the JKP have launched a joint operation to hunt down the terrorists," he stated in a post on X.

In response to the attack, security forces have ramped up measures across Kashmir. Recently, a joint search operation by the Army and police personnel was conducted in Reasi's Dadooa Village. Earlier, a group of armed personnel from Pakistan crossed the Line of Control and fired on an Army post in Jammu and Kashmir's Kupwara district during adverse weather conditions. One intruder was killed, and an Indian soldier injured in the encounter later succumbed to his injuries. (ANI)
