The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed charges against four individuals, including a Pakistan-based terrorist, in connection with the killing of two non-local civilians in Kashmir by Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and its affiliate, The Resistance Front (TRF), earlier this year. The accused, identified as Adil Manzoor Langoo, Ahran Rasool Dar alias Tota, Dawood, and their handler Jahangeer alias Peer Sahab, have been charge-sheeted under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

An open-ended non-bailable warrant has already been issued by the NIA special court in Jammu for the absconding accused, Jahangeer alias Peer Sahab. The four suspects were implicated in the gruesome murder of two civilians on February 7, 2024, in Srinagar's Karfali Mohalla area. The NIA took over the case in June 2024, re-registering it as RC-01/2024/NIA/JMU.

According to the NIA, Adil Manzoor Langoo had been recruited by LeT in 2023 and was inspired by Pakistani handlers to enhance the terror group's activities in Srinagar. He, along with his associates Ahran Rasool Dar and Dawood, operated under the directives of Jahangeer to instill fear and terror among non-locals and wage war against the Indian government. The suspects had been ordered by Jahangeer to commit the murders, and Dawood played a role in destroying evidence of the crime. The NIA is continuing its crackdown on terror organizations in the region, particularly LeT, which uses social media to recruit unemployed youth and propagate its agenda.
