BJP leader N Ramchander Rao on Wednesday condemned the recent attacks on Hindus and Hindu temples in Bangladesh, urging the Indian government to intervene and provide assistance. "No doubt, it is their internal matter with its own repercussions. However, the attacks on Hindus and Hindu temples are condemnable. Such persecution of Hindus in non-Hindu countries like Bangladesh and Pakistan must be denounced," Rao stated to ANI.

Rao described these attacks as "purely religious persecution" by specific elements in Bangladesh and highlighted the historically friendly relations between the two countries. "Despite the friendly ties, some forces are targeting Hindus and Hindu temples. India should extend all possible help because this is a matter where humanity must be respected," he added.

Bangladesh is currently experiencing a political crisis following the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in response to mounting protests on August 5. The protests, initially led by students demanding an end to the government job quota system, escalated into wider anti-government demonstrations. In the aftermath, President Mohammed Shahabuddin dissolved the country's parliament to pave the way for an interim administration. Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus has been appointed as the head of this interim government, according to Dhaka Tribune. The appointment decision was announced by Bangladesh President's Press Secretary Joynal Abedin, following a meeting between President Shahabuddin and coordinators of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
