The Crime Branch of Delhi police has apprehended a 39-year-old life convict and parole jumper from Kolkata, officials revealed on Tuesday. The man, Tobir Ahmed alias Tabir, originally from Bihar, was involved in a 2008 kidnapping and ransom case in Delhi's Nabi Karim area.

Ahmed was sentenced to life imprisonment with a fine but was released on emergency parole with an April 7, 2024, surrender date. However, he failed to surrender after his parole expired and had been evading the authorities since then.

Secret information indicated Ahmed was residing in Pragati Maidan, Kolkata, frequently changing locations. Verification from Tihar Jail confirmed this. Delhi police then launched a surveillance operation, leading to Ahmed's arrest after relentless pursuit based on the secret information.
