Marking the 74th death anniversary of Bharat Ratna Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi, observed as Lok Kalyan Divas, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma awarded the Lok Sewa Award 2024 to 47 government employees and the Karma Shree Award to six teams of bureaucrats. The ceremony, held at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra in Guwahati, recognized outstanding public administration.

Chief Minister Sarma, leading the tributes to Gopinath Bordoloi, congratulated the awardees for upholding the ideals of good governance. Sarma noted, "Our public servants drive forward governance rooted in Gopinath Bordoloi's philosophy." He also lauded Bordoloi's pivotal role in protecting Assam's land rights and fostering the region's modern development.

The CM emphasized the state's commitment to Gopinath Bordoloi's legacy by observing Lok Kalyan Divas annually and honoring government servants for their dedicated service. Sarma highlighted initiatives like Mission Basundhara, which have tackled land-related issues significantly, and introduced the Apon Ghar Scheme to motivate government employees further.

Notable developments included the successful implementation of Mission Basundhara phases, with the Principal Secretary of Revenue and others receiving the Karmashree Award. Efforts to include Charaideo Maidam as a UNESCO World Heritage Site were also recognized. Additionally, achievements in higher education admissions via the Samarth Admission Portal were celebrated.

In his address, Sarma expressed optimism that government initiatives would enhance public service efficiency. He announced that the Lok Kalyan Commission would commence operations on October 2. Education Minister Dr. Ranoj Pegu, Panchayat Minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass, and other dignitaries attended, highlighting the importance of shared commitment to state development.
