The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) on Monday rescued seven people stranded in Hinglaj village, Valsad district, Gujarat, due to heavy rainfall and high tide in the Auranga River. The rescue operation was conducted in the early hours, targeting fishermen affected by the rising water levels.

Inspector Ramesh Kumar of the NDRF explained, 'We received information from the district administration about seven persons stranded in Hinglaj village due to continuous rainfall and high tide in the Auranga River. The water reached the lower-lying areas, forcing the fishermen to seek rescue as the water level rose significantly.'

Valsad and other districts in Gujarat have experienced heavy rains over several days. On Saturday, parts of Vapi in Valsad saw daily activities come to a halt due to waterlogging. Earlier, on August 2, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a warning of rain and thundershowers for the next five days across several regions of Gujarat. The torrential rains led to severe waterlogging in Gujarat's Navsari district, prompting the NDRF to evacuate people from inundated zones.

In Navsari, the NDRF rescued five individuals, including a child and an ailing woman, from flood-affected Mithila Nagari. In total, at least 30 people were evacuated. Amid deluge-like conditions, Navsari Municipality prepared 20,000 food packets for those stranded in the flood-hit areas. (ANI)
