Massive Landslides Ravage Wayanad: Rescue and Rehabilitation Efforts Underway

Two massive landslides struck the Mundakkai and Chooralmala areas in Wayanad, Kerala, in the early hours of July 30, causing significant destruction and injuring hundreds, according to the Kerala Revenue Department. Congress MP Jebi Mather expressed her grief, calling it a 'big tragedy' and stressing the need for collective efforts to restore normalcy.
Mather emphasized that rehabilitation is crucial and urged for the event to be declared a national disaster. She highlighted the Congress party's commitment to aiding those affected. Earlier today, Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi visited the landslide-hit region of Chooralmala in Wayanad.
Accompanied by Congress general secretary KC Venugopal, the Gandhis surveyed the damage. Meanwhile, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan chaired a high-level meeting attended by various political leaders and officials, focusing on rescuing missing individuals. CM Vijayan commended the Army's efforts in the rescue operations and stressed the importance of rehabilitation for the affected areas.
