Ajendra Ajay, President of the Shri Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee, slammed Congress for allegedly spreading false information that 230 kg of gold was used in the Kedarnath Temple. He announced plans to release the tax invoices from the jeweller to confirm that only 23 kg of gold was used.

Ajay accused Congress leaders of fabricating these claims as part of a conspiracy, especially in light of the upcoming by-elections in Kedarnath. He stated, "Such unfortunate and condemnable allegations are being made by Congress and its supporters to create a sensation."

On July 15, Swami Avimukteshwaranand alleged that 228 kg of gold was missing from the temple, terming it a significant scam. He claimed inconsistent reports about the gold quantity, urging for a proper investigation, which he stated had been inadequately handled by the Commissioner.
