Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokespersons Praveen Shankar Kapoor and Shikha Rai have accused Education Minister Atishi of politicizing Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs) in Delhi government schools. The spokespersons claimed that ministers and MLAs' attendance at PTMs is a mere attempt to exploit the education system for political gains.
According to the BJP leaders, Atishi visited schools in her Kalkaji constituency and attempted to connect politically with parents. BJP argues this strategy failed, highlighting that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has faced significant electoral defeats in the region. The BJP further alleged that AAP is not governing but rather running a 'shop of corruption' and an 'event management company' staging dramas over key public welfare issues like education and health.
During PTMs, parents raised concerns about school uniforms in municipal schools and increasing failure rates in government schools. However, BJP spokespersons criticized the Education Minister and school administration for seeking applause rather than addressing these issues, rendering the meetings meaningless. Additionally, Delhi BJP Secretary and MP Bansuri Swaraj accused Atishi of spreading misinformation about the Union Budget 2024, with BJP President Virendra Sachdeva countering her claims by detailing substantial central government investments in Delhi over the past decade.
