The National Commission for Women (NCW) held a pivotal workshop on Saturday for approximately 200 police officers in Manipur. The event, centered on 'Gender Sensitization for Police Personnel,' took place at the Manipur Police Training College in Pangei. The workshop was segmented into four key sessions tackling effective handling of crimes against women, stress management and life skills, gender sensitization, and the intricacies of handling cybercrime cases involving women. Distinguished resource persons including Renuka Mishra, DG from Uttar Pradesh, Psychologist Saloni Prabhakar, Ritesh Nangia, and Cyber Expert Keshav Kumar, provided their expert insights.

During the workshop, the NCW Chief emphasized the crucial need for gender sensitization within the police force to better address issues facing women. The necessity for prompt action, especially in light of recent gender-based violence in Manipur, was strongly underscored. Concurrently, in a separate event in Ahmedabad, co-hosted by NCW and the Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship Development, NCW Chief Rekha Sharma highlighted the threats posed by social media platforms to women and discussed ways to ensure justice for female victims.

Sharma addressed the event, expressing her belief that women, making up 50% of the population, should contribute an equal percentage to the GDP. Her goal, she explained, is to inspire women to enter entrepreneurial ventures. She pointed out that such motivational events are organized nationwide in every state and Union territory and promised that these initiatives will continue to move forward, echoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision to enhance women's capabilities.

Speaking at the same event, Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi also raised awareness about the threats women face on social media and emphasized methods to ensure justice for female victims. Both the NCW Chief and the Gujarat Home Minister commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his women-friendly initiatives.
