Chennai Metro has firmly denied allegations made by Bharatiya Janata Party leader H Raja, stating that the comments against CMRL officials are incorrect and that they respect religious sentiments while executing major public projects.

In a statement on 'X', Chennai Metro addressed the misinformation suggesting they are demolishing the Durgai Amman Temple and Rathna Vinayagar Temple as part of Corridor 3 of Phase-II. The Metro emphasized that such statements lack factual accuracy.

CMRL officials are performing their duties with the aim of completing the Phase-II project effectively, sometimes necessitating the legal relocation of certain structures, including religious ones. The release clarified that realignments have been made to minimize impact on temples and that ongoing work aligns with the 2018 Detailed Project Report.

The statement also mentioned that the project's alignment required relocation of specific structures due to design constraints and assured that the matter is under consideration by the Madras High Court, emphasizing that they are mindful of religious sensitivities in their work for public benefit.
