A statue commemorating Capt Haneef Uddin, a cherished Vir Chakra awardee and brave officer of the Rajputana Rifles, was unveiled at Kerala School, his alma mater, in a solemn ceremony on Friday. The significant event was graced by Lt Gen ADS Aujla, Colonel of the Rajputana Rifles, among other dignitaries.

Capt Haneefuddin, a valiant soldier from 11 Rajputana Rifles, sacrificed his life fighting courageously against the enemy forces in the Turtuk area of Kargil, Ladakh, during the Kargil conflict with Pakistan. His unparalleled bravery and sacrifice were posthumously honored with the prestigious Veer Chakra award.

Lt Gen ADS Aujla, who dedicated the statue, lauded Capt Haneef Uddin's exceptional valor and selflessness. The ceremony aimed to inspire the youth to imbibe the values of courage, sacrifice, and patriotism demonstrated by Capt Haneef Uddin. Organized by former students of Kerala School, the event also saw the institution of four Rs 15,000 scholarships in his name. The unveiling ceremony featured a wreath-laying, scholarship distribution, and an inspirational address by Lt Gen Aujla. School students, teachers, and alumni were present to pay homage to the fallen hero.
