IGNOU Appoints Prof. Uma Kanjilal as Acting Vice Chancellor

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has appointed Prof. Uma Kanjilal as the Acting Vice Chancellor as announced after the completion of Prof. Nageshwar Rao's term. Prof. Kanjilal, with her expansive academic and administrative experience, is anticipated to lead the institution towards more significant achievements.

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has named Prof. Uma Kanjilal as the Acting Vice Chancellor, following the completion of Prof. Nageshwar Rao's term, according to an official release from the university. Prof. Kanjilal, who has been serving as the Pro-Vice Chancellor, boasts an impressive academic and administrative career.

Prof. Kanjilal's career began as a Research Assistant at IIT Kanpur in 1984. Over the years, she held numerous positions such as Cataloguer and Professional Assistant at IGNCA. At IGNOU, she has ascended from Lecturer to Professor since 2003, accumulating extensive administrative experience by serving as Librarian in Charge, Director of multiple departments, and as the Director of the Centre for Online Education.

Her international contributions include consultancy for CEMCA and UNRWA and module development for the Commonwealth of Learning. A Fulbright Scholar at the University of Illinois, Prof. Kanjilal has received accolades like the Manthan Award for eGyankosh. She is one of the National Coordinators for SWAYAM, offering free online courses, and is involved with SWAYAM PRABHA's educational DTH channels.
