Telangana Civil Supplies and Irrigation Minister Captain N Uttam Kumar Reddy commended the Telangana Budget 2024-25, which was presented by Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka in the Legislative Assembly on Thursday. Reddy emphasized that the budget showcases a visionary roadmap to transform Hyderabad into a world-class city.

Reddy highlighted the substantial budgetary allocations, particularly Rs 10,000 crores earmarked for transforming the state capital. The funds will be directed towards multiple projects, including infrastructure, transportation, disaster management, and environmental rejuvenation. "The budget places Hyderabad at the forefront of development, reflecting the Congress government's commitment to improving the quality of life for its residents," he stated.

Expanding Hyderabad's Metro Rail with an outlay of Rs 24,042 crores to develop 78.4 km of five extended corridors was another key element of the budget. These expansions will enhance connectivity to crucial areas like the Old City and Shamshabad Airport. In addition, substantial funds have been allocated to civic bodies, including Rs 3,065 crores for GHMC. A notable project is the Rs 1,500 crore Musi Riverfront Development, modeled after London's Thames Riverfront, aimed at rehabilitating the neglected Musi River.

Reddy also praised the Rs 22,301 crores allocation for irrigation, ensuring completion of six pending projects and proper maintenance of existing ones. The Civil Supplies Department received Rs 3,836 crores, with efforts already recovering significant funds from defaulting millers and securing dues from central agencies. The comprehensive budget promises a brighter future for Telangana's present and upcoming generations.
