Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot has ordered an enquiry, led by the Special Commissioner of Transport, to investigate recent accidents involving government buses. The report, which will explore the causes and recommend preventive measures, is to be submitted within seven days, according to the Office of the Transport Minister.

In a statement, Gahlot emphasized, "The safety of our commuters is of utmost priority. We are committed to identifying the root causes of these accidents and implementing effective solutions to ensure such incidents do not happen again. Immediate action will be taken based on the findings of the enquiry." This decision follows a tragic accident on July 22, where a 45-year-old woman died and several others were injured when a DTC electric bus collided with a metro pillar in Punjabi Bagh.

The Delhi government is considering several measures to prevent such incidents, including procuring driving simulators for driver training, implementing an Aadhaar-based attendance system, and conducting breathalyzer tests before duty. Drivers will also work with only one concessionaire, and NGOs will provide training and sensitization for drivers.
