Thane Police have filed charges against a 23-year-old woman, Sanam Khan, accused of using counterfeit documents to secure a passport to travel to Pakistan. Khan, also known by the alias Nagma Noor Maqsood, is at the center of the investigation.

In a statement, Khan explained, "I got my name changed in 2015. During COVID in 2021, I met Bashir Ahmed, my now-husband, through social media. Our families connected via video and voice calls, leading to our marriage. I obtained my passport in 2023 and secured a visa through legal means. I have no issues with an inquiry but visiting the police station each time I am in India is unreasonable."

Deputy Commissioner Zone 05, Amar Singh Jadhav, noted that an in-depth probe into the incident is ongoing. "A case has been registered at Vartak Nagar Police Station, and investigations are focused on all crucial aspects," said Jadhav. Further information is awaited.
