Pioneering Mines Safety Awards 2024 Set to Elevate Standards in Indian Mining Sector

The first-ever national-level Mines Safety Awards (MSA) 2024 will take place on July 28, 2024, at the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre in Kolkata. This event aims to recognize and reward excellence in mine safety practices across various sectors including coal, metal, and oil & gas. It is organized by the All India Mines Safety Association (AIMSA) under the Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS) and hosted by Coal India Limited. The event will feature competitions, awards, exhibitions, and knowledge-sharing sessions, concluding with a cultural program. The goal is to promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement in the mining industry.

Kolkata – The first-ever national-level Mines Safety Awards (MSA) 2024, targeting the promotion of best practices and enhanced safety in mining operations across India, will be held on July 28, 2024, at the Biswa Bangla Convention Centre in Kolkata. Conceptualized by Shri Prabhat Kumar, Director General of Mines Safety, and organized by the All India Mines Safety Association (AIMSA) under the Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS), this trailblazing event is hosted by Coal India Limited.

The MSA 2024 aims to recognize and reward excellence in mine safety practices among the Coal, Metal, and Oil & Gas mining sectors. Highlighting the commitment of these industries to maintain high safety standards, the event seeks to nurture a culture of continuous improvement and vigilance in mine safety practices.

A key feature of the MSA 2024 will be its competitions and awards segment. Winners will be chosen by a committee formed by AIMSA, based on data from top-performing mines during the recent Annual Safety Fortnight and other entries, including those from the Oil & Gas sector. This rigorous selection process guarantees the awards' authenticity in celebrating safety excellence.

Additionally, the event will host an exhibition showcasing innovations and best practices in mine safety, serving as a knowledge-sharing platform for industry stakeholders. The evening will culminate in a cultural program celebrating the mining community's spirit of safety and unity. Representatives from the mining sectors will engage actively, with 45 mines recognized under various categories.
