A 30-year-old man named Hemant Kumar Rawal was rescued by Mumbai Police after being kidnapped for 12 hours over a business dispute. Rawal was located in Pune district, Maharashtra, on Saturday.

Three suspects, Kapooram Ghanchi, Prakash Pawar, and Ganesh Patra, were arrested in connection with the case. According to LT Marg Police, Kapooram Ghanchi had ventured into a textile business with Rawal, supplying cloth from Ahmedabad, which Rawal distributed in Pune. The failure of Rawal to pay Ghanchi Rs. 30 lakh for the goods led to the kidnapping conspiracy. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend three more accused.

All three suspects were presented in court and remanded to police custody until July 25. In a separate incident in Pune, a 27-year-old woman was attacked by a car driver on Baner-Pashan Road on Saturday afternoon.

The victim, riding a two-wheeler with two children, alleged the driver followed her for two kilometers before assaulting her, causing severe injuries. The woman posted a video on Instagram detailing the incident, which has since gone viral, raising concerns about women's safety.

Pune police have arrested the accused driver and an accompanying woman, booking them under various sections of the BNS and the Motor Vehicle Act. The case is under investigation at Chaturshrungi Police Station. The victim, Jerlyn Dsilva, narrated her ordeal, describing how the driver blocked her and later assaulted her while his wife did not intervene. (ANI)
