Major Ukrainian Drone Attack Damages Russia's Largest Black Sea Oil Refinery
Russia's largest Black Sea oil refinery, Tuapse, was damaged in a significant Ukrainian drone attack that ignited a fire. Although the fire was contained, the extent of the damage is unclear. The attack is part of Ukraine's strategy to disrupt Russian energy infrastructure and economy.
Russia's Tuapse oil refinery, its largest on the Black Sea, was damaged in a major Ukrainian drone attack overnight, igniting a fire, according to Russian officials on Monday. The extent of the damage remains uncertain.
Debris from the downed drone caused the fire at the refinery, owned by oil giant Rosneft. The blaze has since been contained, as confirmed by the regional administration via Telegram. SHOT and Mash Telegram news channels reported a series of blasts near the refinery early on Monday.
No casualties have been reported, officials stated. Reuters could not immediately verify whether the refinery is operational or assess the extent of the damage. Ukraine has been targeting Russian energy infrastructure to disrupt the economy and hinder Russia's military operations in Ukraine.
