The oil tanker Hafnia Nile, which caught fire after a collision with another vessel off Singapore, was carrying naphtha loaded from the company's energy park in Huelva, Spain, the Spanish oil and gas company Cepsa stated.

Cepsa confirmed that shipowner Hafnia informed them about the incident near the island of Pedra Branca in the South China Sea. Cepsa assured constant communication with the shipowner and local authorities, offering full support and collaboration.

The 74,000-deadweight-tons capacity Panamax tanker was carrying around 300,000 barrels of naphtha, according to ship-tracking data. This naphtha was sold to Japan's Eneos. The collision with the Sao Tome and Principe-flagged tanker Ceres I and subsequent fires were reported early on Friday approximately 55 km northeast of Pedra Branca. Malaysia's coast guard reported that the Ceres I had left the location of the accident and likely turned off its tracking system.
