The Azim Premji Foundation has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Karnataka to bolster the nutritional content of mid-day meals for government and government-aided schools over the next three years, according to a press release.

This new initiative will see eggs included in the daily meals of 55 lakh students from Grade 1 to Grade 10, significantly enhancing their nutritional intake. Currently, eggs are served twice a week under the state's mid-day meal program. The foundation's support will extend this to six days a week, offering an alternative high-nutrition supplement for those who abstain from eggs for cultural reasons.

The move aims to improve the overall nutritional status of students, contributing to their physical and cognitive development. The foundation, known for its work in enhancing public education quality, will work closely with the Commissioner of School Education and Literacy (CSE) to ensure the delivery of high-quality eggs to the participating schools.
