A fatal balcony collapse at Rubina Manzil in Mumbai's Grand Road area claimed the life of a woman and left 13 others injured, according to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), on Saturday. The incident occurred around 11 am near the Grant Road Railway Station.

'The balcony portion and slab portion of the second and third floors, plus the upper four-story structure, had partially collapsed, and some portions were hanging precariously,' the BMC reported. A rescue operation, involving the Mumbai Fire Brigade, police, ambulances, and civic staffers, was promptly initiated for at least seven or eight residents stranded on the top floor of the four-story building.

'One person died, and 13 were injured after a section of the balcony collapsed. The injured were swiftly transported to a local hospital, where a woman was declared dead, while others are receiving treatment,' an official stated. Continuous rainfall has exacerbated the situation in Maharashtra, causing significant disruptions to public transportation and inconvenience to commuters. After assessing the rainfall impact in Nagpur, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has directed the administration to remain vigilant to prevent further disruptions amid relentless downpours.
