Kamala Pujari, a Padma Shri awardee and notable organic farmer, passed away at the age of 74 on Saturday. She had been battling kidney-related ailments and was receiving treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, according to sources from the Chief Minister's Office (CMO).
Pujari, a prominent figure in the agricultural community, is survived by her two sons and two daughters. She had been transferred to Cuttack from Jeypore District Headquarters Hospital after her condition worsened.
Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed his condolences and announced that Pujari's funeral would receive full state honors. Leader of Opposition in Odisha Assembly, Naveen Patnaik, also mourned her loss, highlighting her significant contributions to agriculture.
