On Friday, Delhi Courts marked a significant milestone with the inauguration of their first AI-powered 'Pilot Hybrid Court.' The facility, equipped with a sophisticated speech-to-text technology, promises to revolutionize the recording of evidence by converting spoken words into text.

Acting Chief Justice of Delhi High Court, Justice Manmohan, spearheaded the launch of the AI-equipped courtroom at Tis Hazari Court. He emphasized the crucial role of technology in enhancing the legal system and reducing delays in justice delivery. 'Technology must be utilized to improve the legal system and expedite justice,' said Justice Manmohan during the event.

The hybrid court's speech-to-text function, designed with advanced Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) and Large Language Models (LLM), aims to save time and improve the efficiency of judges and court staff. Additionally, the newly launched digital court application allows judicial officers to access all e-filed cases, promoting a more streamlined, paperless system.

Justice Manmohan described the speech-to-text facility as a 'game-changer,' noting its potential to address the shortage of stenographers by automating the transcription process. While he praised the IT Committee's efforts, he also cautioned against the misuse of technology in circumventing laws, underscoring the need for responsible tech adoption.

Attendees included Justice Suresh Kumar Kait, Justice Rajiv Shakdhar, Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav, and other dignitaries. The initiative is part of a broader plan to modernize all 691 district courtrooms in Delhi, backed by a budget of Rs 387 crore, with 14 pilot projects underway.
