A tragic incident occurred near Jhilahi Railway Station in Gonda when the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express derailed, leaving one person dead and seven others injured. The Assam Chief Minister's office confirmed that CM Himanta Biswa is closely monitoring the situation, coordinating with relevant authorities.

Pankaj Singh, CPRO of North Eastern Railway, reported to ANI that rescue operations are actively in progress. 'One death and seven injuries, including a severe case, have been confirmed. The railway's medical van is on-site, and we have launched rescue efforts. Helplines in Lucknow and Gonda are available for assistance,' Singh stated.

Uttar Pradesh's Relief Commissioner disclosed on X that teams from NDRF and SDRF are mobilized for prompt response. 'Five ambulances are currently involved in rescue operations, with additional units dispatched. Initial medical aid is being administered, and the injured are being transported to hospitals. District administration is instructed to ensure appropriate treatment,' the Commissioner shared.

In addition, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed immediate action, emphasizing the swift execution of relief operations. He extended wishes for the speedy recovery of those injured in the derailment.

This unfortunate derailment adds to a series of similar incidents reported across the nation recently. (ANI)
